Privacy Policy
How we handle your information.
Last updated: 30 April 2026
Introduction
World Sports Day ("WSD", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our marketing website at worldsportsday.com and any related communications you receive from us.
We aim to collect only what we need. The information we hold today comes from two simple interactions: subscribing to our updates with your email address, and submitting a message through our contact form. We do not run user accounts, profiles, or trackers beyond what is necessary to keep the site running.
How We Use Your Data
We use the information you give us to keep you informed about the World Sports Day project and to respond to questions you raise. In practice that means:
- Sending occasional email updates about milestones, the launch, and how to take part.
- Replying to enquiries submitted through our contact form.
- Understanding which pages are most useful so we can improve the site, using aggregated and anonymised analytics.
- Meeting any legal obligations that apply to us as an organisation based in Ireland.
We will never email you for purposes you did not sign up for. Every update email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers or partner organisations for their own marketing. The only times your information leaves our systems are:
- When we use a trusted service provider, such as our email delivery platform or hosting provider, strictly to operate the site and deliver communications you have asked for.
- Where we are required to do so by law, for example in response to a valid legal request or to protect the rights and safety of WSD or others.
- With your explicit consent, where you have asked us to share specific information.
All providers we use are bound by contractual data processing terms and process your information only on our instructions.
Cookies
Our site uses a small number of cookies to keep things working and to understand which content is useful. You can read the full list, including how to opt out of analytics, in our Cookie Policy.
Your Rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws, you have a number of rights regarding your personal data:
- The right of access to a copy of the information we hold about you.
- The right to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- The right to erasure, often called the right to be forgotten, where there is no good reason for us to keep processing your data.
- The right to restrict processing while a query is being resolved.
- The right to data portability, meaning you can receive your information in a structured, machine-readable format.
- The right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including marketing.
- The right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission or your local supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
Contact
For any privacy questions, including requests to access or delete your data, please email hello@worldsportsday.com. We aim to reply to every enquiry within five working days.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the project grows. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of the page and, if the changes are significant, let you know by email. The most recent version will always be available here.
